Hybrid teaching

A hybrid course is a course thas is offered on site for one group of students, and simultaneously online for another group of students.

Two types of equipment are available for implementing hybrid courses: fixed infrastructure and mobile infrastructure.

Fixed infrastructure

  • Fixed and integrated microphones and loudspeakers
  • Audio technology can be connected to the instructor's laptop via USB
  • No permanently installed camera, use of external camera possible
  • No recording system technology preinstalled in the room

Mobile infrastructure

Meeting Owl, video conferencing device with 360-degree camera, microphone and loudspeakers.

Meeting Owl Pro

  • 360° camera, microphone and speaker combination with automatic zoom on speaker function
  • Suitable for seminar rooms with up to 25 people
  • Requires a power connection, laptops/mobile devices are connected via USB cable

  • Small and mobile thanks to battery power supply
  • Laptops or mobile devices can be connected via Bluetooth
  • The distance to the device should not exceed 5 metres
  • Two devices can be paired to improve microphone detection

  • For recording (instructional) videos on your own
  • Screen recording with or without a person (internal camera)
  • WebCam recording (external camera)

The devices from the mobile infrastructure category can be borrowed by university members with employee status directly from KIM Library and IT Support in the library's information centre, but we recommend making a reservation in the ILIAS course created for this purpose.
