Open Access Week 2022

Within the context of the International Open Access Week 2022, Team Open Science of the Communication, Information, Media Centre (KIM) at the University of Konstanz organizes a panel discussion on “Climate Justice through Open Access” as well as an Open Science Meet-Up on the topic of “Open Access Books”. Both events are open to everyone.

Panel Discussion on “Climate Justice through Open Access”

A panel discussion with Prof. Dr. Christine Peter (Department of Chemistry), Prof. Dr. Christian Voolstra (Department of Biology) and Andreas Kirchner (Open Access Coordinator at KIM).

As part of the international Open Access Week , the Team Open Science at the KIM of the University of Konstanz invites you to a panel discussion on "Climate Justice through Open Access". Researchers from Konstanz will discuss the significance of open access and open science in relation to climate change.

Open research results create transparency, eliminate inequities, and foster knowledge transfer. The climate crisis is a global challenge, and open access to scientific information can provide a knowledge base for all to respond to the impacts of climate change. Even beyond the knowledge transfer of researchers, thematically relevant open access publications are available for decision makers in business and the public sector as well as interested citizens.

"Sharing knowledge is a human right, and addressing the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries," states the official Open Access Week website.

The panel discussion will take place online at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022. To start, there will be a Science Slam presentation on the topic of science communication and climate change. The event will be held in German.
