Removal Instructions McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for Windows

Uninstall McAfee VirusScan Enterprise with "Add or Remove Programs" in the Windows Control Panel

Note: You need administrator privileges to uninstall McAfee VirusScan

Windows 2000/XP

  • Please make sure that you are logged in with administrator privileges.
  • Click on Start, Control Panel.
  • Double click Add or Remove Programs.
  • Please choose McAfee VirusScan Enterprise.
  • Click on Remove and follow the instuctions on the screen.
  • If the programme "McAfee Agent" is installed on your computer, please uninstall it as well, using "Add or Remove Programs".

Windows Vista / 7

  • Click on the Windows icon (Start), Control Panel.
  • Double click Programs and Features.
  • Please choose McAfee VirusScan Enterprise.
  • Click on Remove and follow the instuctions on the screen.
  • If the programme "McAfee Agent" is installed on your computer, please uninstall it as well, using "Programs and Features".

The software has now been almost completely removed. Remaining registry entries can be removed with the help of the McAfee removal tool.

Step 2 - Remove remains of the programme and registry entries with McAfee Removal Tool (optional)

  • Save the file.
  • Browse the folder where you saved the file.
  • Please make sure that all McAfee programme windows are closed.
  • Note: Users of Windows Vista / 7 need to right-click the file MCPR.exe and choose Run as administrator.

  • After uninstallation has finished, you need to reboot your computer to completely remove all McAfee products from your system.

Note: If cleanup fails, please save the logfile and contact the IT Service Centre's Support.
