Logo Zotero

Zotero is a cost-free reference management programme which runs on all standard operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Linux).

With Zotero, you can

  • Collect and manage your literature references online
  • Import references from specialist databases and library catalogues
  • Automatically format your bibliographic data and create bibliographies in your texts
  • Use the functions of a knowledge management system, such as writing notes, linking related entries/notes, using tags or creating thematic folders and collections.

Optionally, you can create an online user account to

  • access your data online from any PC
  • synchronise data between different devices
  • work collaboratively in groups.

Download

  • You can download the different versions of Zotero free of charge from the following website: www.zotero.org
  • To collect literature directly from the browser, you also need the Zotero Connector. The connector is also available from the Zotero download page.
  • The required plugin for your word processor (Word, Libre Office) is automatically installed with the Zotero installation.

OpenURL-Path for importing complete texts

To optimally use the import function, please enter the following OpenURL path in the Zotero menu under  Edit > Preferences > Advanced: http://me8xh5ls2s.search.serialssolutions.com/

If you want to synchronise attachments between several devices, you can also do this without a paid cloud space with Zotero. All you need is the WebDAV address of the university cloud. You can find the URL  under "Files Settings" at the bottom left of the web interface after logging in at cloud.uni-konstanz.de.

Unfortunately, WebDAV-Sync does not allow you to share attachments in groups.

App for iPads

The app is well-suited for reading and annotating PDF attachments. Annotations are synchronised, and new entries can also be created. All you need is a free account on zotero.org for synchronisation.
