General computer safety awareness

How to be safe in the digital word - do we really know what we’re doing?

Virtually all of us use smartphones or tablets. An increasing number of these devices are interconnected and online - but do we actually know what they get up to when we’re not looking?

This course seeks to point out the dangers of using smart devices, how to minimise these dangers and important things to consider. You will acquire basic knowledge of computer systems and networks. We will deal with various dangers that threaten the safety of your personal data. You will learn how to keep your data safe, how to create back-ups and how to restore lost data. There will be a session on data protection, which will demonstrate what others can learn about you and how you can manage the information that is available about you online. Additionally, you will learn about your data protection rights and how to make sure that they are respected.

Depending on the mobile classroom, we will use either MS Windows 8.1 or with Windows 10. The information awareness and knowledge that you will acquire in this course can also be applied to other operating systems. We will demonstrate using a MAC, PC, iPad and an Android tablet.
