Bib is back - 24/7
The library is open again 24/7, with access to book areas and workstations. All 1,700 workstations are availableagain with masks required at the workstation. External library visitors are subject to the 2G rule if they wish to access the book areas.
Back on Campus is the motto of the winter semester 2021/22 - also at the Communication, Information, Media Center (KIM).
Contact tracking is ensured by a check-in at the library entrance: Simply register with your student ID (for students) or at the circulation service counter (for university employees and external library users). When leaving the library, check-out is done in the same way.
External library users show their library card in the entrance area of the university so that they can enter the campus. For a library visit that goes beyond a short pick-up or return of media, a 2G proof (vaccinated or recovered) is required.
The library is once again a meeting place, with group study areas and the opening of the Bib Café. Digital services, such as PC pools, printers and scanners, and the digital Bookshelf are accessible again.
The on-site service hours of the KIM Support Service and the Media Library will be adapted to the expanded operation.
So we have the following library service enhancements starting Nov. 02, 2021:
- 24/7 operation in the main library (reduced in the N library).
- Provision of 1,700 workstations (instead of 700), with mandatory masks at the workstation
- No advance reservation requirement for students, but free access to workstations and book areas (check-in at library entrance for contact tracking)
- Unrestricted ability to work in groups (with mask requirement)
- Expansion of on-site service hours for KIM Support and the Media Library.
- Improved use of digital services, such as PC pools, printers and scanners, digital bookshelf, etc.
- Prompt reopening of the Bib Café
