Accession to the DEAL agreements with the publishers Elsevier, Springer and Wiley
Positive developments in scientific publishing
On behalf of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK), the DEAL consortium (https://deal-konsortium.de/) has negotiated consortial transformation agreements in recent years, initially with the two scientific publishers Springer Nature and Wiley, which the University had already joined some time ago. Last year, a transformation agreement was also negotiated with the scientific publisher Elsevier, which the University of Konstanz joined in January 2024.
This transformation agreement with Elsevier towards more open access in academic publishing includes discounted conditions for members of the University of Konstanz for publishing in the publisher's hybrid and gold open access journals. Joining the agreement also includes access to Elsevier's complete journals collection (Cell Press / Lancet) for members of the University.
