George Psathas (22 February 1929 - 15 November 2018)

Born in 1929 in New Haven, Connecticut. B.A. 1950 at Yale University, M.A. 1951 at the University of Michigan, Ph.D. 1956 in Yale. 1963 to 1968 Associate Professor at Washington University in St. Louis, 1968 until retirement 1997 professor of Sociology at Boston University. As part of his academic activities, George Psathas has made a special contribution to the promotion of phenomenological sociology and ethnomethodology. One focus of his theoretical interests is the works of Alfred Schütz and Harold Garfinkel.
