We provide a small configuration tool* for Windows users that will set up your cable connection for you. You simply need to download and run it on your computer.
If the configuration tool does not work for some reason, you can also set up your connection manually.
Configuring your LAN cable connection using the configuration tool

Start by right-clicking/selecting “Run as administrator”. If you’re using Windows XP, you might have to log in as administrator first.
Press any key. The configuration will start automatically. Press any key to finish the configuration process once the tool asks you to.
Click on the balloon tip which will ask you to enter additional information.
Now you can enter your user information (firstname.lastname@uni-konstanz.de and your email password).
Connect your network cable to the LAN port of your PC. Go to “Start” and enter "services.msc". Confirm by hitting “Enter”.
Scroll to the “Automatic configuration (cable)” entry and right click to open the “Options” menu.
Go to “General” and in the “Start type” drop-down menu select “Automatic”. Then click on “Start” and confirm by hitting “OK”.
Open your Network and Sharing Center and click on “Change adapter settings” in the left-hand menu.
Right click on “LAN connections” to customise the LAN settings.
Go to “Authentication”, then click on “Settings”.
Make sure that the “Verify server certificate” option is activated. Choose “Connect to these servers” and enter the following information: radius.rz.uni-konstanz.de
Then go to “Trusted certificate authorities” and activate the “Deutsche Telekom Root CA 2” certificate. In the “Select authentication method” menu, select “Secure password EAP-MSCHAP v2”, click on “Configure” and untick the “Automatically use own Windows user name and password” box.
Confirm by clicking on “OK” twice.
Go to “Additional settings” and tick the “Enter authentication mode” box; then select “User authentication” in the drop-down menu and click on “Login information”.
Now enter your login data (firstname.lastname@uni-konstanz.de and email password).
Close all windows and confirm your configuration..
