Hugo Häring award 2017
In 2017, the newly designed library information centre and entrance area was awarded the Hugo Häring award of the Bund Deutscher Architekten (BDA) (association of German architects) , working group Bodensee.
Library of the year 2010
The Deutscher Bibliotheksverband e.V. (dbv, German library association) and the ZEIT foundation Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius have awarded the “Bibliothek des Jahres 2010” (library of the year 2010) award to the University of Konstanz Library.
Rankings
Various university rankings also consider the literature that is available to both students and lecturers. Most of these can be found under “Bibliothek” (library).
When comparing ranking results, one should remember that in the case of the University of Konstanz, it is always the university’s main and only library that is being assessed. Other universities with several libraries may be ranked for their faculty, seminar or their main libraries without explicitly stating that fact.
Library index BIX
Between 2008 and 2015, the library index BIX ranked various libraries according to a number of different performance indicators. The University of Konstanz Library achieved the following places:
- 2004 to 2007: 2nd place,
- 2008 to 2011: 1st place.
Between 2012 and 2015, the libraries were not ranked. Instead, they were placed in three performance groups depending on their results in four assessment categories, similar to the CHE ranking.
