OER: Publish!

You have created your free educational material and are now looking for a place to publish it? Here are our tips for suitable platforms.

Platforms for OER Publications

The publication of your free educational materials is worthwhile in many ways. In particular, the publication (e.g. in comparison to a journal article) succeeds very quickly (often within a few minutes) and is then persistently stored and citable on most platforms.

Tip: You can also publish your materials on several platforms to increase their findability.

Central OER Repository (ZOERR) Baden-Württemberg

On the state-specific and generic platform, the Central OER Repository (ZOERR) of the universities in Baden-Württemberg, you can publish all your free educational materials (including verification of OER conditions by independent editors).

The publication is done in four simple steps (short guide of ZOERR). At the end you will receive a Handle-ID to share the materials and for your publication list.

Zenodo

Zenodo is a generic repository, which is used for free educational materials, scientific data sets, software and publications. Zenodo is financed by the European Commission.

Uploading materials is also straightforward and usually takes less than 10 minutes (registration, file upload, entering, saving & publishing metadata). At the end you will receive a DOI for sharing the materials and for your publication list.

Subject-specific platforms

In addition to country-specific platforms, there are also many repositories for free educational materials that focus on a specific subject. To find a suitable, subject-specific repository for your free educational materials, we recommend the map on OER.info
