Nationwide license agreement with Springer Nature

Access to all of Springer Nature's approximately 1,900 journals back to the year of publication 1997.

As part of the DEAL project, a publish and read contract was signed on 8 January 2020, in which the University of Constance is also involved. The contract ensures access to Springer Nature's portfolio of journals over a period of three years (not including Nature journals, magazines and technical journals). A complete list of all included journals can be downloaded from the DEAL project website (

Similar to the existing publishing house with Wiley, Open Access publishing of Constance-based authors (submitting or corresponding) in Springer Nature's subscription journals is possible without additional costs under a CC-BY license. This already applies to publications from January 1st 2020 onwards, the date of the first online publication is decisive (online Publication Date).

For publishing in the publisher's Gold Open Access journals, a publication fee is still payable. On August 1st 2020, the contract component for these journals will come into force, and a 20 percent discount on the list prices will then be granted (exempt from the journals Nature Communications and Scientific Reports). As before, the costs of such publications can also be reimbursed by the university's publication fund .
