For some purposes, it is helpful to use an email address that is only valid for a limited time. When you create a temporary E-mail address or alias, you can set its expiration date. Any E-mails sent to these addresses are automatically forwarded to your university in-box.

When would I need a temporary E-mail address?

You can use a temporary E-mail address in order to access specific services without other users being able to identify you directly, e.g. when you participate in a public online forum. These addresses can also be helpful if you would like to request information material without having to sift through any resulting spam afterwards, as you can simply delete the temporary E-mail address.
